architectonic woodland house, hebden bridge projects

. . . .

woodland house, hebden bridge

a three bedroom family house on a steeply sloping site on the outskirts of hebden bridge.

the house is entered from the upper section of the site. the sitting room and kitchen are located at this level and have large full height windows looking west across the valley to the river below and south along the length of the valley to hardcastle craggs.

the building steps down the hillside to provide bedrooms and bathroom at the lower level. the master bedroom has a large balcony which stretches southword into the garden.

the materials of the building envelope are natural stone and slate like those of the surrounding buildings, though the spatial arrangement and fenestration make this building contemporary in style.
